PHONE PSYCHOTHERAPY & PHONE COUNSELING

Most people who decide to pursue phone psychotherapy or phone counseling have not had any experience with working in this way by phone. If you are unsure about whether or not this is the kind of therapy you want to pursue, one of the best things you can do is to try a few sessions and see whether it is helpful for you.

Sometimes people begin their work in our office and then move to another state. Instead of beginning all over again, they choose phone psychotherapy. Whether you prefer face-to-face psychotherapy or phone psychotherapy, the process retains its effectiveness because verbalization is the key ingredient in all counseling, psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. And of course, our clinical orientation remains the same whether we see you in our office, or work with you by phone.

There is difference a between phone psychotherapy and phone counseling. Phone counseling consists in talking about immediate concerns and often involves problem solving and more immediate interventions. Phone counseling helps in maintaining one's current trajectory or stance and does not go into depth to resolve underlying issues. Phone psychotherapy is a more in-depth process. Psychotherapy helps people understand and address the underlying blockages that prevent them from having success in relationships or work.

Our office has provided phone psychotherapy and phone counseling for 14 years. We've made regular use of phone work in our own training and found phone psychotherapy and phone counseling to be helpful options for people who are able and wanting to make use of this service.
